First:
I always start with opening my Windows. I’m not kidding, it’s amazing what a little fresh air can do for the entire feeling of your house. I feel like it gives me energy and inspires me to get things done I’ve been putting off all winter. Where we live it’s cold and the days are extremely short for atleast 4 months out of the year. Believe me, cold dark winters are not condusive to getting motivated. So I take advantage of the warm air and sunshine as soon as I can.
Second:
You know once those windows are open the dust starts flying! So I dust thoroughly. This includes shelves, ceiling fans, vases, air/heat registers, and so many other places. This also includes sweeping all the floors and Vacuuming my couches. Especially since I have Mr. Brutus the Pibble that loves to sit on his throne a.k.a the ottoman.
Third:
NOw that you have all of the vacuuming and sweeping done It’s time to move on to your carpets and couches.
Just a few things before you start :
- Test the solution you’ll be using in a small inconspicuous area on your rug, carpet, or couch to be sure it doesn’t affect the color or fabric adversly
- Make sure you read all the warnings and labels on your solution.
- Be sure to also read the care instructions for the fabric on your furniture.
I LOVE the way BISSELL Professional Deep Cleaning with Febreze® Formula 2515 smells and it makes my rug and furniture smell amazing!! I first started With prince Brutus’ Throne (the ottoman) It’s by far the dirtiest piece.
Then moved on to the rug. You really don’t realise how dirty it is until you start cleaning it. So glad I did this The house Immediately smelled so much better. Not to mention the formula protects everything from future spills.
Fourth:
I always change out my throw pillows and it makes such a huge impact. There are so many options to choose from it’s such a cheap way to completely change the way a room looks.
Fifth:
Fresh flowers! I can not tell you how beautiful fresh flowers make your home look. If you don’t believe me just think about all of the covers of home magazines you pick up. I can tell you the one thing they always have in common. There’s either a fresh bouquet or some sort of live plant in the picture.
Now that I’ve given you all of my tips to freshen up your space it’s time for you to enter for the chance to freshen up your space!

04/13/2015 at 5:36 PM (10 years ago)To keep up with my toddler and pets I use my Bissell Spot Clean Pro Heat Pet carpet cleaner. It keeps my carpets, rugs, and even my couches sparkling clean. It’s small and easy to use for those small daily messes that come my way.

04/13/2015 at 11:44 PM (10 years ago)For spring cleaning, I like to deep clean where I don’t normally clean — like the carpet beneath the couches! I also like to tackle the windows, since they get quite dirty over the winter!

04/17/2015 at 12:44 PM (10 years ago)As a DIY’er with two dogs and boys, keeping things clean is a challenge. We all contribute to the mess on a daily basis. Spot cleaning several times a week helps but every couple of months the major cleaning has to happen, moving furniture and such.

04/19/2015 at 5:34 PM (10 years ago)I’ve been trying to adopt the minimalistic style so recently I’ve been getting rid of all the clutter. That is the first thing I do I get big plastic bags and boxes to store things that are still useable but I don’t need anymore so I’ll donate them. Also winter stuff are stored in my storage house outside. They with a dust remover I dust off all the tables and furniture. I then disinfect and last but not least, I freshen up my house with some fabric refreshens or lit up some scented candles.
